What to do if someone asks for money

What to do if someone asks for money

Never send money to someone you met through the app, even if their story sounds urgent or emotional.

Scammers may ask for money for travel, medical emergencies, family problems, investments, crypto, phone bills, or other unexpected situations. They may also ask for gift cards, bank transfers, payment app transfers, or cryptocurrency.

If someone asks for money:

  1. Do not send money.
  2. Do not share banking details.
  3. Do not share personal documents.
  4. Stop the conversation.
  5. Report the account in the app.
  6. Block or unmatch the person if needed.

A genuine match should not pressure you for financial help. If someone becomes emotional, pushy, or threatening after you say no, report them immediately.
