Meeting someone in person safely

If you decide to meet someone in person, choose a plan that helps you feel comfortable and in control.

Before meeting:

  1. Meet in a public place.
  2. Tell a friend or family member where you are going.
  3. Arrange your own transportation.
  4. Keep your phone charged.
  5. Do not rely on the other person for a ride home.
  6. Trust your instincts if something feels off.

Good first-date locations include cafés, restaurants, parks during the day, or other public places where people are nearby.

Avoid meeting at someone’s home or inviting someone to your home for a first meeting. If you feel uncomfortable at any point, you can leave. You do not need to explain or continue the date if you do not feel safe.

If someone behaves in a way that feels unsafe, threatening, or inappropriate, report them in the app.
