Avoiding romance scams

Romance scams happen when someone builds trust or emotional closeness to take advantage of you. These scams can happen slowly and may feel very personal.

Warning signs can include:

1. They become very intense very quickly.
2. They say they love you before meeting.
3. They avoid video calls or in-person meetings.
4. They always have an excuse for why they cannot meet.
5. They ask for money or financial help.
6. They encourage you to invest in crypto or trading.
7. They ask you to keep the relationship secret.
8. They pressure you to move off the app.

To protect yourself, take your time and keep early conversations inside the app. Be careful with anyone who asks for money, private information, or investment help.

If you think someone may be trying to scam you, report them and stop contact.
